Travel (344 images)
The feeling of moving about in the world has always been my inspiration.

Early on, the car was a vehicle to high places, like the beach.
Later, to other faraway places, like Tustin, and even further, Canada.
As the years go by, I find new places to go and new ways to get there.

Here's some memorable experiences:

The true origins of sailing stem back to even earlier days (age 3) when my parents handed me a bag of wonder bread and showed me the ducks on board their chartered Cheoy Lee "Sally B" on the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.

Mom and Dad truly loved sailing. Later in California, we were usually sailing on Sundays in Newport Bay, Ca and beyond, including Super Bowl, the calmest day of the year on the water! This worked until high school, when the family trips were no longer cool, spf 2, hair products and punk rock friends were.

There was also Sea Scouts, Newport Beach California, where I participated in a car wash fundraiser. Some older girl(she was like 17!) yelled at me and said I wasn't washing the car right.

Instead of socking her out, I stayed away form there and sailing dinghy's until I joined the Sonoma State Sailing Team (no, there was no water in those parts, mostly cows, so we had to store the FJ's at the Sausalito Yacht Club and make practice/party there every week).

All this evolved into the purchase of Bay Dreamer, my dream. She's an Ericson 25+ that has moved around quite a bit since I've had her. She's now settled from the San Francisco Bay Area to San Diego Bay, her new port of call.

A portion of my decision to purchase was due the rising costs of living in San Francisco, namely rent. Sure enough, Bay Dreamer was my home for a good part of 2001.

I began a professional sailing life after dropping out of the corporate world as a web page designer. Since then I've had many great sailing experiences: Olympic Circle Sailing Club, the Baja-Haha Rally, boat-sitting, Racing and learning more and more about boat ownership.

Bay Dreamer now has a home on Lake Huron with her new owner. It was a tough separation, but life moves on in bigger (hopefully literally) and better ways!

Mom (Diva) and Dad (aka: Dude).

They married in late December, 1963.

They gave birth to Mike, in 1967, then me, in 1970 while living in Kokomo, Indiana.

They continued their manifest destiny to California in 1976 in the wood paneled, Oldsmobile station wagon, with stops at the Grand Canyon and Albequerque.

The rest is history...
